MY STORY
In 2010, I was on a 3-month planned East Asia trip, and ended up in Thailand. I found a tiny puppy under an abandoned excavating machine, malnourished with a huge belly full of worms, and covered with ticks; I simply couldn’t just walk away. Wanting to take him home with me, I rented a house while I figured out how to do so. During this period, I found a few more dogs on the street that I felt terribly sorry for, and took them in as well. I then committed to a sabbatical year, still planning to return home after that with a handful of dogs. I did not know that the furry family would grow and grow, and by the end of that year I simply listened to my heart. Then I built my own house on bigger land, and soon had over 30 dogs. This was the point of no return. Meanwhile, after having had to move a few times, I found peace on a 4000sqm plot of land. My life is committed to the well-being of animals 24/7, and I also live at the sanctuary; I’m living a kind of a young boys dream, especially as I am an introvert, aside from the financial pressure to keep it all running, of course.
