ABOUT
Canine Dream World is a safe haven and forever home for 148 dogs & 8 cats which were rescued by Mike Duval off the streets in Koh Samui/Thailand. He has been rescuing animals since February 2010.
Every dog and cat enjoys a happy and social life with constant TLC from Mike, as well as round-the-clock access to medical treatment if needed. No dog lives in a cage or compound; instead, all of the dogs roam free on a completely fenced in and secure area of 4000sqm that is invisible from the outside. Mike dedicates his life to the dogs and cats 24/7; he lives at the sanctuary, and works more than full-time for their well-being (find out more about Mike Duval under ‘My Story’).
Our cattery (a 360 degree fenced-in area within our premise) is our safe haven for the cats. It is spacious and provides plenty of climbing opportunities. Here they are protected from domestic wildlife, such as water monitors, constricting and venomous snakes, eagles and owls.
For security reasons (e.g. malicious poisoning, burglary, dog/cat theft) the sanctuary is NEVER left unattended (a security guard is present any time that Mike is absent).
Most of the animals Mike has taken in were strays in urgent need of help. Without immediate intervention these animals would have died or suffered immensely.
When rescued, animals are usually suffering from malnutrition (also with Plica), blood parasites, tick infestation, Distemper, Parvo, trauma, severely infected wounds, and rotten extremities.
In addition to treating these acute problems, he also provides preventative treatment, such as sterilization, vaccinations, deworming, and heartworm prevention, as well as endo- and ectoparasite prevention (sterilizations and vaccinations are done by our trusted local veterinarian). He makes sure to keep their preventative care up to date at all times.
Canine Dream World is not open to the public like a zoo, in order to avoid any unduly stressful situation for the animals, and for legal reasons (to welcome visitors we would need to obtain a costly permit from the local tourist authority).
