Mathilda (family member since February 2011).
She came from a local shelter. I was just visiting out of curiosity, but it didn’t work that way (lol). I saw her as a tiny, frightened puppy, sitting with her untreated broken arm behind a door on a floor filled with puddles of pee. I had to take her into my arms, but she instantly let go. It was clear that I wouldn’t leave that place without her. The only problem was that this place was run by an older woman, who was by far the grumpiest, most callous woman I had ever met, and I did not expect to get her easily. To my surprise, I got her right away with the comment that, if I wanted more, I could take as many as I wanted. The first thing was bathing time, then x-rays with the result of getting a cast for 6 weeks. Luckily, she recovered fully and is still with me. She is such a sweet dog, who looks at you with the most pleading eyes as soon as you have something edible in your hands (she’s half Labrador). Sadly, she’s also not the youngest anymore, but I really hope that she will be with us for many more years to come.
